A Fairy Fun St. Patrick’s Day Display

March roared in like a lion, with snow and cold temperatures, but I’m hopeful that spring will be here soon! I consider St. Patrick’s Day the first Spring holiday on the calendar. All of the green reminds me that the landscape will be greening up soon and one of my favorite annual spring events, the Indianapolis Flower and Patio show, falls around St. Patrick’s Day.

Today I’m sharing a quick and simple Irish fairy garden I made to display in my living room. I can’t take credit for this idea, which was my mom’s! She gave me the four piece figurine set, which includes three Irish fairies and a lighted cottage. So cute! She has a set as well, and made the most adorable scene with it using craft materials she already had on hand. I totally copied her idea! She gave me her leftover craft supplies so I just had to buy the tray, which is from Dollar Tree. This whole project only cost me a dollar to make thanks to my mom’s generosity. Here are photos of my Mom’s garden, taken both before and after she added some St. Patrick’s Day bling to it. I took the bird’s eye view photo to help me copy her idea later at home.

The inside of the tray is lined with a moss craft mat, so the first step is to turn the mat over with the wrong side up, and trace around the bottom of the tray using a marker. I used scissors to cut out the oval shape, cutting just inside the lines so that it fit inside the tray. Next I placed the house at the back center of the tray, and set the fairies around it to the sides and front of the tray. I used decorative pebbles, which I keep on hand to use in my outdoor fairy gardens, to create a path to the cottage in the center of the tray. I scattered reindeer moss, mood moss, black lichen, and spring green reindeer moss from a moss variety pack around the scene. The pink and lavender flowers were cut from floral picks from Michael’s. Here’s my finished garden.

Two of the fairies have shamrocks in their hair, and one of them is clutching a bouquet of four leaf clovers she picked. The third fairy is lounging in the grass wearing little green boots and a green headband. Their wings are made from four leaf clovers too, and dusted with glitter. The lit house looks really cute at night, with golden light shining through the three windows and illuminating the roof.

Here’s wishing you a shamrockin’ St. Patrick’s Day filled with fairy magic!

This is a fun easy St. Patrick’s Day decoration. The different types of moss gives it an Irish look. Being from Irish heritage I always like to decorate a little for St. Patrick’s Day. Love you! Your Irish Mom ☘️
