There’s a chill in the air and temperatures are falling faster than the leaves! It was inevitable our long stretch of summer-like weather would come to an end. It is November after all, but a mostly unseasonably warm fall prompted me to decorate another fairy garden last month. I realized my Fourth of July fairy garden was still on my front porch and that I should have transformed it for fall. It seemed like a good idea to give it a makeover to match my pumpkins, mums, and wreath on my porch. After all, it was still 80 degrees out at the time. Since it’s in the shade, I didn’t want to shock one of the fall fairy gardens I already have on my deck by moving it from sun to the shaded porch, so I left those in the back and added yet another fall fairy garden design, so I could have one for my front porch. (I tried moving a fairy garden the opposite direction from shade to sun in the spring, and killed it instantly.)
So – how about a Thanksgiving fairy garden?! That was my bright idea to transform my existing Red, White and Bloom fairy garden into a miniature harvest scape. I’d never made a Thanksgiving fairy garden before since not many Thanksgiving miniatures are available, but I managed to find a harvest fairy, turkey and cornucopia to fit the theme. And then I used some additional fall items to complete the look. It was the quickest and easiest of my fall fairy garden transformations.
This sweet little fairy is perfect for a Thanksgiving fairy garden with her orange ruffled dress, green and yellow tinted wings, cute braid and basket full of corn ready for a Thanksgiving feast. The garden’s cute turkey has a muted natural look, with leaves in place of tail feathers. A cornucopia sits nearby. The gate and fence help divide the scene from the ageratum and lobelia flowers in the back. They’re adorned with lots of fall accents like the leaf wreath, pumpkins, apples, harvest wheat, and orange rain boots. A wheel barrow full of pumpkins and a straw bale with more autumn bounty round out the decorations.
We had a few frosty nights in October, so I’ve been putting this garden in the garage at night when needed. I’ve been tucking the other fairies on my deck in with blankets on those same cold nights. Actually I’ve been covering the containers with old towels and it’s worked well. Overall though we’ve had warm weather and some of my perennials are blooming again after all the rain. My mums are also still pretty and the grass is bright green. My other annuals have succumbed to the frost though and I can’t wait to see them again next spring and summer. Our run of mild weather is finally supposed to come to an end Wednesday night when forecasted lows will dip to and stay in the 20s so I’m going to have to let my fairy gardens go until next year. I had a nice six month run of fairy garden weather!
I hope you’ve been enjoying the fall season and are making fun plans for Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving or even Fairiesgiving!

How clever! Love the idea of a Thanksgiving Fairy Garden. Thanksgiving is often overlooked being wedged between Halloween & Christmas. 🦃
